Billie Gayle Melton

Billie Gayle (Whittington Applewhite) Melton, 77, of Newark, Texas passed away on January 14, 2022. She was born on January 13, 1945, to Edna and Whitt Whittington in Fort Worth, Texas. She married Richard Applewhite at age 16 on May 3, 1960, and they had three sons. They were married for 35 years when Doug passed away on November 7, 1995. Gayle was a housewife for many years until starting to work for the Fort Worth Poultry & Egg in 1965 at the age of 20. She took time off to raise 3 boys until 1978 and she went back to work at Tandy Electronic. On November 10, 1980, she left Tandy Electronic and started a career at Motorola, where she spent the rest of her working years. Gayle found love once more and married Larry Don Melton on April 12, 1996, and they resided in Newark, Texas. She loved to ride motorcycles, crochet, and collect dolls and thimbles. She is survived by her sons, Richard Floyd, Billy Don, and Thomas Wayne; 7 grandchildren; sister, Wendy Cromer; and brother, Russell Whittington, both of Newark, Texas; nephews, Chris and Steve Cromer, of Newark, Texas.
