James Lewis Pollard, 84, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2017. Funeral: 10:00 AM Tuesday First United Methodist Church of Alvarado. Interment will follow at Pleasant Point Cemetery in Alvarado. Visitation: 6-8:00 PM Monday evening at Calvario Funeral Chapel in Fort Worth. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Alvarado. James was born January 2, 1933 as the 7th of 10 children to the late Lewis and Virgie Pollard. He met Yvonne Mahany in High School and they married in 1953. He served over 35 years at Castleberry ISD in capacities as a teacher, coach, and administrator before retiring in 1994. After retirement, he and Yvonne traveled extensively and enjoyed spending time with their family. He was a Cowboys and Rangers fan and loved his Scotty Dogs. James was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers; 2 sisters; and grandson, Chase Pollard. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Yvonne Pollard; sons, Jeff Pollard and wife Terry, Kris Pollard and wife Sylvia, Ross Pollard and wife Barbie; grandchildren, Ryan(Sarah), Aly (Greg), Bari, Clayton, Shafer, Alec, Hunter, Lilli, and Caroline; great-grandchildren, Kenzie and Jaxon; brother, Bill Pollard, LeRoy Pollard and wife Annell, and Ronnie Pollard and wife Jackie; sister, Joyce Pollard; son from Denmark, Henrik Laugesen and wife Ellen; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family members.
