Jay Hugh McDonald, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016. Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Lucas Sylvania Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lucas Sylvania. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Scottish Rite Masonic Children's Hospital in Dallas. Jay was born March 29, 1926, in Fort Worth, to Jarrell Haas and Elsie Irene Nelson McDonald. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was proud to be a Mason. He owned his own trucking company for a number of years. He loved to travel, bicycle, ski, play golf, run marathons and roller blade with his grandkids. Jay was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and one brother. Survivors: Loving wife of 70 years, Margaret McDonald; son, Jarrell McDonald and wife, Felicia; son, Jay D. McDonald and wife, Ty; daughter, Molly Lowrie; daughter Laurie Phillips and husband, Greer; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends.
