In Celebration of the Life of JoAnne Hinkle Gilley

June 20, 1946 – February 26, 2025

JoAnne Hinkle Gilley was ushered into the presence of our Lord Jesus at 4:57 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26,2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on June 20, 1946, in Fort Worth, Texas, JoAnne was the oldest of three children. She would move to Lake Worth in eighth grade and call it home for the remainder of her life. JoAnne graduated from Lake Worth High School in 1964 and went on to attend North Texas State University. In 1966, JoAnne married Ron Gilley of Azle, Texas. Her career was deeply rooted in service and dedication, particularly through her work at Rosen Heights Baptist Church, where she held several roles including Financial Secretary. JoAnne also spent close to a decade working at the accounting firm Philips, Welch, Dillard & Roberson. Even with these successes, JoAnne’s true callings were that of mother to Kyle E. Gilley born in 1971, and grandmother to Jack Ralston Gilley on December 16, 2001, Ron’s 59th birthday. She dedicated her life to these roles. JoAnne was known for her loving and kind nature, always bringing warmth and laughter to those around her. She had a contagious laugh, a witty and quick sense of humor, and a resilient spirit that carried her through life’s challenges. JoAnne displayed sincere love and a faith in Jesus that could not be shaken. Over the years she participated in numerous Bible studies, Sunday School classes, various church committees, as well as teaching Sunday School and youth group. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, she cherished time spent with those she loved. Over the years, JoAnne also enjoyed many hobbies including reading, crafts, crocheting, travel and music. JoAnne is preceded in death by husband Ron Gilley and father J.T. Hinkle. She is survived by son Kyle Gilley and wife Tammi Smith Gilley; grandson Jack Gilley; mother Opal Hinkle; brother James Hinkle and wife Betsy Parmer; sister Kathy Walker; as well as sister-in-law Sandra Kilpatrick and husband Frank Kilpatrick. JoAnne is remembered fondly by nieces Cindy McLaughlin, Cheryl Beauchamp, Teresa Gilley, and Claire Hinkle, and nephew Trent Gilley. JoAnne’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May her kindness and strength continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to share her life. A celebration of JoAnne’s life will be held in Fleming Chapel at Broadway Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas. Please use the chapel entrance at the intersection of Broadway and May.
